Reflections from the Artist’s Eye: Contemporary Art From The Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation

What is the nature of artistic vision? Artists do see differently than the average person, but how each artist sees the world varies with each individual. Some focus on the beauty of surface appearance while others probe beneath what the eye sees. Over the past decades artists have employed various tools-running the gamut from photography to television —to expand the scope of the human eye.

This exhibition explores various approaches to seeing, ranging from photorealism to comic caricature to cosmic abstraction. Each work offers a powerful statement about what it means to look at and reflect upon the world around us. The fascinating roster includes artists such as Charles Bell, Chema Cobo, Jack Goldstein, Joe Goode, Red Grooms, Yayoi Kusama, Matt Mullican, Nam June Paik, and Robert Yarber.
